Deborah found Ruth playing catch with Alex in the backyard. Both were giggling as they pretended to dive for the ball each time it was thrown to them. When Alex saw his mother, he automatically threw the ball at her.
“Catch it, Mommy!” Alex yelled. Deborah reached for it with her left hand and caught it easily, much to the disappointment of her son and Ruth.
“You’re supposed to dive for it, Debbie!” Ruth said as she walked to her friend and gave her a hug.
Deborah looked down at the patio she was standing on and said, “I don’t dive on concrete, sorry,” she turned to Alex, “Honey, I need to talk to Ruth for a little bit, okay?”
“Sure Mommy, can I go watch television?”
Deborah shook her head, “Why don’t you color in your room, instead.”
“Okay.”
Ruth followed Deborah upstairs, and flopped down on the bed while her friend put her purse on the nightstand and then took off her shoes. When Deborah got on the bed, Ruth cuddled up against her and they both enjoyed the closeness. Ruth tried to be patient and wait for Deborah to tell her what was on her mind, but it got too difficult for her Type A personality.
“Ok, Debbie, what’s going on?” Ruth said, pinching her friend’s tiny stomach.
Deborah slightly flinched, “I got another envelope Friday.”
Ruth sat up as fast as lightning, “Another envelope? Why didn’t you tell me Friday?”
“Because I didn’t realize it until we got home from The Blue Room,” Deborah said. She rolled over on the bed, dug into her purse, and pulled out the white envelope. She passed it to Ruth to read.
Ruth raced through it and whistled, “Your status as Queen MILF is now solidified. You may need to add another color to that organizational chart you have downstairs. Maybe orange for conquests or something?”
Deborah swatted Ruth, “This isn’t funny, Ruth! What am I going to do? This is getting out of hand!”
“Relax, girl,” Ruth said. She dropped back on the bed and pulled Deborah to her in a hug, “Could this have come from someone at The Blue Room?”
“No, that’s where I just came from. Theo didn’t recognize the handwriting. I have an idea, but it is almost too scary,” Deborah said.
“Tell your roomie. What scares you?”
Deborah gulped and then said, “You remember that kid who tripped in the street Friday night? Blake? The one I helped up?”
“Oh yeah, he was kinda yummy,” Ruth said, “so you think it was him? What’s the problem? He’d be a good addition to your growing harem. You already have Bob as the old fart, me as the sexy bi-curious experiment, and Mark as the young stud. Blake could be the stud in training.”
Deborah rolled over and hid her face in the pillow and screamed. The sound shocked Ruth, but she recognized it as a stress releaser that Deborah had often used during their college years. She eventually rolled over and said, “Ruth, I don’t want a harem, especially not one with a kid from my own neighborhood.
